What is Chiropractic - Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession, so you do not need to be referred by your doctor. A chiropractor is trained to diagnose your problem and will refer you to another health-care practitioner if necessary.

Chiropractor treatment consists of a wide range of manipulative techniques designed to improve the function of the joints, relieving pain and muscle spasm.

Chiropractic does not involve the use of any drugs or surgery.

Maria Faulks is a member of The British Chiropractic Association (BCA), which was founded in 1925 and represents over 50% of UK chiropractors. All BCA chiropractors will have undergone a minimum four-year full-time internationally-accredited undergraduate course and are registered with the General Chiropractic Council, the UK's statutory regulator for the profession. The BCA aim to promote, encourage and maintain high standards of conduct, practice, education and training within the profession in the UK.

Chiropractors treat problems with joints, bones and muscles, and the effects they have on the nervous system. Working on all the joints of the body, concentrating particularly on the spine, they use their hands to make often gentle, specific adjustments (the chiropractic word for manipulation) to improve the efficiency of the nervous system and release the body's natural healing ability.

The effectiveness of chiropractic treatment is supported by research as well as by various UK government and medical organisations.

The clinic was founded by Maria Faulks, Doctor of Chiropractic, who has been a chiropractor for over twelve years and has gained a reputation as one of the finest chiropractors in the area. The Market Harborough Chiropractic Clinic is a newly refurbished purpose-designed clinic at 19 Nelson Street, Market Harborough - that offers patients a professional, caring and welcoming environment in which to be treated.

All of the clinic's chiropractors are fully qualified Doctors of Chiropractic and are registered with The General Chiropractic Council (by law) and are members of The British Chiropractic Association.

Maria is also a member of The British Chiropractic Sports Council and has specialised as a Certified Chiropractic Extremities Practitioner.

Custom-made orthotic insoles and shoes are available and sports massage and rehabilitation sessions are available from the clinics Sports Injuries Specialist - please ask for details.

The clinic is open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.00pm, some late evenings (See individual practitioners times) and Saturday by appointment.
