April 2006 - KEEP MOVING!
CHIROPRACTIC AWARENESS WEEK: 17th – 23rd April 2006
The Market Harborough Chiropractic Clinic was geared up for Chiropractic Awareness Week, which took place between 17th and 23rd April 2006.
The theme of this year’s awareness campaign was 'Keep Moving'. As a nation which appears to be obsessed with sitting down, the British Chiropractic Association has examined the effect our sedentary lifestyles has on our bodies - from the early morning dash for that all-important seat on the train, to ending the evening slouched in front of the computer or TV. With evidence that more and more of us are drawn to this lifestyle, and the common misconception that bed rest is the cure for all ailments - the ‘Keep Moving’ campaign has provided simple and easy to follow advice.
Throughout the week, the Market Harborough Chiropractic Clinic offered ‘Checks for Charity’. Everyone was invited to visit the clinic for a chiropractic health check during Chiropractic Awareness Week. This was provided free of charge, all that was asked in return was a donation to Heart Research UK, the national charity funding pioneering medical research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease.
Heart Research UK's National Director, Barbara Harpham said, "Keeping active is good for your heart and we recommend 30 minutes of moderate activity a day. All funds raised throughout Chiropractic Awareness Week helped us to fund more pioneering research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease and community-based healthy heart projects".
Maria Faulks, Chiropractor at the Market Harborough Chiropractic Clinic said, “Chiropractic care offers hands on pain management and focuses on muscles, joints and nerves. Chiropractic is suitable for all ages and can help with a wide range of aches and pains from head to toe. Chiropractors use their hands to ‘adjust’ or ‘manipulate’ the spine and joints where signs of restriction in movement are found and can also involve working on muscles. This restores normal function to the affected muscles, joints and nerves allowing the body to then get on with the job of healing itself. The clinic was pleased to have participated in Chiropractic Awareness Week and has raised a good amount of money for Heart Research UK”.
Appointments for a check can still be made on 01858 464680 or by email at info@harboroughchiro.co.uk
